Solar 3.0 Bulletin - December 2006

Axel Fisch & Solar Productions 3.0 off to a new start !

Dennis Chang records his first album - NATURE BOY

Montréal jazz guitarist, chose Solar Productions 3.0 to record

his first album, Nature Boy.

Denis Chang started playing manouche guitar as an adolescent after having experimented various styles. At 19 he discovers Django Reinhardt's music, and has been a manouche guitarist since then.

For his first album, Dennis plays choice manouche tracks, surrounded by top-notch canadian, french and american musicians such as Frank Gambale, Alex Bellegarde, Vanessa Rodrigues & Lauréat Cormier.

Recordings started in our previous Aird street studios, to be continued a few months later in our new Solar Productions 3.0 studios, situated in Verdun.

Guitars were recorded with Apex tube mikes that were modified in Toronto...what a sound! For Marine Nasturica's accordeon, sound captation was done in stereo with 2 AKG 414 mikes via a Digitech tube pre-amp. Mixing was done on Cubase SX4, and we experimented our new "plug-in" Ativerb 5, a great impulse response Reverb.

Denis Chang & Solar Productions 3.0 are working on two new projects in 2007.
